Abstract—The results of the engineering geocryological monitoring performed from 1994 to 1997, are con-
sidered. It is shown that the thin layer of perennially frozen rocks was formed, moisture of soils considerably
increased, and the groundwater level in the seasonally thawed layer rose during construction at the building site
with prepared grounds. The impact of these changes on the stability of structures is assessed, and the need for
additional measures against the negative impacts of geocryological processes is substantiated.
